a fabulous evening of delicious food and wine, and
spectacular entertainment. Those in attendance
enjoyed wine-tasting on the first floor, and Living
Literature and a buffet dinner on the second floor
of our Downtown Library. The annual event held on
Saturday, October 1, 2011 enjoyed capacity
attendance as library faithful and staff gathered to
celebrate Eugene's award-winning library. The Living Literature for the
night was made up of scenes from Arsenic & Old
Lace, a play by Joseph Kesselring, Fences, a play by
August Wilson, and Cyrano, a play by Edmond Rostand
and adapted by Posner. This colorful
collection of theater was skillfully portrayed by
area actors to the delight and enjoyment of every
guest. Classic Caterers also entertained during
dinner. Master of Ceremonies, Storm
Kennedy started the formal program introducing
Honorary Chair, Kathie Wiper who reminded everyone
what a rich history the library enjoyed, and what an
incredible resource it was. Jennifer Geller
also spoke passionately about all of the
opportunities that existed for individuals and
families, including a wide assortment of online
resources. The evening concluded with dessert by
Marche as guests lingered in the comfort and
ambience of the library. Said one staff member, "I
am reminded how special our library is. I feel
so proud to work at the library, and amazed that so
many people came to support what we do." email: info@eplfoundation.org
