EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION

At the Eugene City Council Meeting on April 12, 2010, Mayor Kitty Piercy and the Council accepted a check from the Library Foundation for $100,000 to support Children's story telling, Summer Reading, Live Homework Help, Mango Languages, New Books and Media and a host of other library programs and services. Foundation Executive Director Jim Olney makes the donation on behalf of Library Foundation donors during National Library Week, April 11-17.

Make Reservations for
Booked for the Evening

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, the Library Foundation will host the third annual Booked for the Evening, an evening of celebration for the Eugene Public Library and what it means to our city.

The Foundation is very pleased to announce that the event this year will be held in the Downtown Eugene Library on a wonderful summer evening. Plan to attend and enjoy wine and fine food, great conversation, dinner and dessert from Marche' Restaurant and three play segments for your enjoyment.

We will have several talented local actors and actresses perform segments from three plays, Ken Kesey's "Sometimes A Great Notion", Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird" and Agatha Christie's "Murder in the Vicarage".

Contact the Foundation office to reserve space and join us to be Booked for the Evening.

                        3,000 Library Shelves Named!

Thanks to you we have just received our 3,000th donation to name a library shelf in the Eugene Public Library. And we want to celebrate that achievement.

Join your fellow library supporters who have library shelves named in their honor, for their children or in celebration or memory of friends and family. Your donations for Library Shelves helps the Library Foundation fund New Books and New Media in the Library and helps make the Eugene Public Library one of the best in the nation.

Naming a library shelf only costs $100 and it can be used to congratulate a new graduate, to celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day, or to remember a friend or relative. There are still many shelves left to be named, so name a library shelf today.

   One Percent for the Library

You've probably seen the banner in the downtown library when you stopped in recently. The One Percent for the Library campaign has begun to give everyone the opportunity to support the Eugene Public Library as a legacy. When you leave a gift in your estate plan to the Library Foundation, it will help support the public library for many years and will give you the knowledge that you will help those in the future.     Foundation Funds Live Homework Help

The Foundation received a grant from the Cressey Family Charitable Trust in December as a result of the strategic plan formulated last spring by the library Joint Projects Committee. The grant provides financial support and an opportunity to develop a long-term project that will be beneficial to the library and to the community.

The funding grant has become the "Stepping Stones to Information Literacy: Live Homework Help", online project. This  real-time, one-on-one tutoring service gives students of all ages live homework help. It is also coordinated outreach to teachers, parents and caregivers, as well as students, so everyone can keep track of schoolwork and progress made. It is available directly through the Eugene Public Library website.

Thank you to our Donors and Partners

The Foundation Board of Directors offer their sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the Eugene Public Library Foundation over the years, since the beginning in 1984. Every gift of every size is important.

Maintaining an excellent public library requires a strong partnership between private and public entities. The Foundation's goal is to strengthen and maintain that partnership.

We look forward to continuing our mutual commitment to ensure excellence at the Eugene Public Library. Donors like you make all the difference.
